Australia Day Oscars-style!
Native dancers, Russian Vodka,
Caviar
and a guest appearance by a great niece of Al Jolson.
Has to be Australia Day at Oscars!
It was once again standing room only at Oscars as a packed house on
a very busy Boyz Town celebrated Australia Day as only Oscars could.
The cream of Australian society were in attendance to witness exotic
dancers, a song and dance act from 'Sadie the cleaning lady' and the
diminutive figure of Alma Jolson perform a tribute to her great
uncle 'Al '.
Not many people are aware that Al Jolson was originally from
Australia and Alma who works as an opal miner at Yarawanga had been
specially floated in for the occasion.
The show culminated in a guest appearance of Dame Ena Average who
together with Alma joined 'our very own Wally' on stage for a great
rendition of 'I still call Australia home'.
Guests were welcomed with a complimentary Singapore Sling cocktail
and great tucker in the form of home made sausage rolls and pasties
were served.
Valentine who owns one of Moscow's most prestigious hairdressing
salons had together with his friend Alec brought two bottles of
genuine Russian vodka and two pots of caviar which were auctioned
together with a mobile phone donated by Clive and Ian from London.
8650 baht was raised for Thais4life.
Thanks to Dolly John, Ken from Sydney, Tam and Kor and the staff at
Oscars, Valentine and Alec, Clive and Ian, Wally, Printer Graham and
all who attended.
It's quite frightening to wonder what Oscars will come up with for
