"Shut that door" –
it's show time at Oscars
It was show time once again at
Oscars in Boyz Town on September 2, 2009 when the very talented Miss
Jason from Brighton appeared.
Also "on stage" was Pattaya's own Dolly John, the lovable Lucy
Lastik, Tam and Jean from Oscars (with Jean wearing a stunning
creation made by Top, a member of Oscar's staff). Miss Jason's fine
vocals and witty repartee kept the well attended crowd enthralled in
a fast moving and entertaining show.
A raffle was held to benefit Thais4Life for the Baan Jing Jai
Orphanage with prizes donated by local businesses and 12,900 was
raised.
One lucky winner handed back his prize of Hennessy Brandy donated by
Frank from Belgium which was auctioned in a very unusual way.
Bidders had to place 40 baht in a pot every time that they bid and
as the auction closed the last person to place in 40 baht won the
brandy.
This caused great fun and excitement and the eventual winner was
David of Oscars who donated it back to be auctioned again and this
raised a further 2,000 bringing the sum raised on this unusual
auction to 7,620 baht.
It was then announced that a private donation of 10,000 from good
friends and regular charity supporters had been received bringing
the evenings total to 30,520.
Miss Jason had brought over ₤600 courtesy of Maisie Trollette raised
at the Bedford Tavern in Brighton and then David introduced Steve
who has The Windsor Castle Pub in Hounslow in UK who announced his
pub had raised ₤2,000 thanks to Jason and friends which will soon be
winging it's way to Thais4Life to benefit Baan Jing Jai.
The day before, Jason and friends had visited Baan Jing Jai on where
they had a great time and were able to see the results of their
previous fundraising helping greatly improve the quality of life for
the 66 children there.
All in all a great 'high camp' evening and thanks to all the
artistes, local businesses and friends for their support. |
